USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service Selects InfoReliance to Implement Zoonotic Disease Surveillance System

Fairfax, Virginia – September 28, 2005 - InfoReliance Corporation, a leading Northern Virginia information technology firm, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has selected InfoReliance to implement a comprehensive zoonotic disease surveillance system.

FSIS is the public health agency responsible for ensuring that the nation's commercial supply of meat, poultry and egg products is safe, wholesome and correctly labeled and packaged. As a subcontractor to IAP World Services, InfoReliance will build and deploy an intra-agency early warning system to monitor emerging diseases, foreign animal diseases, zoonotic diseases and intentional food contamination.
